CAPT Allan Ronald to address Canadian researchers on Canada's role in global HIV prevention

A keynote presentation at the upcoming Conference of the Canadian Association for HIV Research (May 13 to 16, in Saskatoon, Canada) will be given by well-known researcher, Allan Ronald.  It is entitled: "Reducing HIV Incidence in Resource Limited Societies - Partnership Roles for Canada and Canadians".

This is an extremely important topic, given that the current economic crisis is squeezing many countries' global AIDS budgets.  Meanwhile, the number of new HIV infections is continuing to grow faster than that the number of new people being placed on antiretroviral treatment.

Dr. Ronald will talk about the important contributions of science in establishing the benefit of prevention programs and he will highlight some of the ways in which Canadian-led research is making a difference in that area.  He will also stress the critical importance of sustaining that leadership by continuing to invest in Canada's contribution to global HIV prevention.
A webcast of Dr. Ronald's presentation will be available online after May 16, at:  www.cahr2010.ca
