About CAPT Network
The Canada-Africa Prevention Trials (CAPT) Network began in March 2007
as a partnership of leading HIV researchers, clinicians and NGOs in
Canada and Africa who were interested in a new model of international
HIV prevention research. With funding from the Government of Canada,
CAPT Network is engaging South-South and South-North relationships to
empower African leaders in developing and executing studies that
respond to local needs.
The Network provides a comprehensive and sustainable research
infrastructure for the purpose of improving the health of people in
Eastern and Southern Africa. Over the coming years, the Network will
develop the necessary resources to mount appropriate prevention and
treatment studies in sub-Saharan Africa.
Our Logo
The Network chose for its symbol the centre of an African mandala that signifies the unification of all beings. This symbol highlights our determination to work together—across boundaries and borders—to carry forward research, enhance capacity and provide options for care and prevention of HIV in Africa.
When turned on its side, the symbol also indicates bravery, fearlessness and valour. These are all qualities that the people of Africa have demonstrated in the face of the AIDS pandemic.
