Women are highly encouraged to apply.
Mentorships
The purpose of CAPT Network mentorship awards is to provide new Master’s or PhD level academics with ‘hands on’ work-learning experience in HIV research, under the guidance of an appropriate mentor. Candidates may ask for two to six months of support. The amount awarded will range from $2,500 to $7,000 (USD), based on the time needed to complete the project. Two to four mentorships will be awarded during 2008, depending on the number of qualified applicants. Applicants must partner with an experienced HIV clinical investigator or other professional working at a CAPT Network site. Mentors do not need to have an appointment within the Network. However, the proposed programme of work must be relevant to CAPT Network’s research objectives. Applicants may submit to this programme if they intend to do work or build skills in any area of HIV research (clinical, basic or behavioural sciences). Priority areas for adjudication are: (i) strength of the applicant; (ii) strength of the proposed supervision, and (iii) strength of the proposed training or research to be undertaken. Women are highly encouraged to apply.
