HAARPS (HAART as Prevention)
This study aims to study the effectiveness of HAART in preventing HIV transmission. Highly active antiretroviral therapy as an additional HIV prevention tool for sero-discordant couples in Uganda will be a prospective cohort study of two groups of HIV uninfected individuals who are co-habitating heterosexual partners of HIV infected individuals receiving HIV care and treatment services from the AIDS Support Organisation (TASO) in Eastern Uganda.
HAARPS is a collaboration of TASO, British Columbia Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS, University of British Columbia, CAPT Network, Canadian Institutes for Health Research and the British Medical Research Council.
