Vision
- The CAPT Network’s vision is to position this Canadian-African partnership as a leader in HIV/AIDS research and to make a significant impact on the prevention of HIV/AIDS in eastern and southern Africa.
Mission
- To strengthen independent basic and clinical research capacity in eastern and southern Africa.
- To facilitate and conduct first class prevention science with high needs populations.
- To link care, treatment and prevention research.
Main objectives
- Develop a first class African-led research plan that responds to locally identified priorities and operationalizes the CAPT Network Discordant Couples (DISCO) Cohort.
- Build a sustainable research network that can mobilize in response to the
need for coordinated multicentre trials of HIV vaccines, microbicides,
and diagnostics.
- Enhance research capacity through the
provision of infrastructure resources, staff, training and
harmonization of internationally accepted procedures.
- Collaborate with other networks.
